Abstract

Purpose: Due to today`s sexual openness, college students may be exposed to frequent sexual relations, which can affect their adulthood reproductive health, pregnancy, and delivery. The purposes of this study were to explore the degrees of sexual knowledge, sexual attitudes, and reproductive health promoting behaviors in male and female college students and to identify their gender differences.

Methods: A descriptive comparative design was used. A total of 181 college students(92 male and 89 female) were recruited. Data were collected between March 17 and April 8, 2016 using a convenience sample in a university located in Y city.

Results: For male students, there was no correlation between two variables. For female students, reproductive health promoting behaviors had a significant relationship with sexual attitudes.

Conclusion: These findings provide essential information that health care providers can use to increase their awareness of the importance of gender specific treatments when caring individuals.
